After inspecting the socket interior and the rest of the lamp, the only lamp parts we need for this repair is a new molded lamp cord set, a felt washer, antique brass seating ring, 3 terminal socket interior, socket insulator, and some felt dots.
The first thing we do is remove the bottom light from the snap in hole on the lamp base. Then we pry the socket shell from the socket cap and lift the socket interior. The wires are removed from the screw terminals and the cord is pulled from the base of the lamp.
Next we remove the nut on the bottom of the lamp base and remove the base from the lamp body.
This lamp takes a quick dip in the sink with some warm water and dish soap. Anyone should be careful with decorated lamp glass. This lamp has a decal and it should have been properly fired in a kiln to protect it. Some decorated glass might be harmed if submerged or vigorously washed in water and soap.
We start to put the lamp back together. First we add the felt washer and the seating ring to the top of the lamp body.
Next we add the felt dots to the base of the lamp body.
Then we install the threaded rod from the socket gallery on the lamp body. The bottom nut is attached to the rod only finger tight at first. Everything is lined up to meet the front of the lamp. The nut is carefully tightened at the bottom of the lamp base.
Next we thread our lamp cord and bottom wires through the lamp rod. This lamp rod is a 1/8IP size rod and 4 wires is a tight fit. It works well if all the cords are pushed in at the same time.
The wires reach the top of the lamp and are attached to the socket interior. A UL Knot is tied in the brown lamp cord set wires. The black wire from the bottom light goes on the black screw terminal of the 3 terminal socket interior. The white wire and the ribbed cord set wire connect to the nickel screw terminal. The smooth cord set wire connects to the brass screw terminal of the socket.
The socket key is attached to the socket interior and the socket shell is snapped into the socket cap.
A bulb is added and the lamp is tested.
